Supafork: AI Agent Native Version Control. Git for AI Agents.
Supafork is the version control system designed from the ground up for AI agents. It is Git for autonomous agents: super-fast forks, instant branches, and exhaustive provenance for every action a coding agent takes. If you have ever wanted GitHub for agents, a filesystem for agents, or a way to give your agents full environment control, Supafork is it.
The AI Agent Native VCS, but actually Git.
Supafork is wire-compatible with Git so the model your agent already knows still works on day one. Under the hood we replace the slow human assumptions: branches are free, forks are instant, history is exhaustive, and every read and write is tracked, attributable, and reversible.
Built for agent swarms.
Run thousands of parallel agent branches. Fan out experiments, roll back failures, and merge the winners with sub-second operations. Where Git treats every action as if a human is waiting at a keyboard, Supafork treats every action as part of a swarm.
An agent filesystem on top of S3.
Supafork is also a versioned filesystem for agents. POSIX-style read and write semantics, backed by S3-compatible object storage, with sub-50ms hot reads and writes. Mount it inside your agent’s sandbox and the working tree is instantly available, instantly forkable, and instantly observable.
Full env control for your agents.
Give your agents full environment control: dependencies, secrets, runtime, working directory, and version history all live in the same address space. No more brittle scripts that re-clone the repo on every run, no more lost work when an agent crashes mid-task.
The source of truth for your agents.
Supafork is the source of truth for your agents: every prompt, every session, every tool call, and every skill across every harness, stored effortlessly in one place. Your agentic metadata — session history, prompt history, tool-call timelines, skills — is captured automatically and made searchable. Run sf init once and Supafork registers the repo, detects your installed harnesses, and imports every existing session. New sessions sync automatically after that.
Sessions across harnesses.
A session should not be trapped inside one tool. Supafork stores coding-agent sessions from OpenCode, Codex, Claude Code, DeepSeek, Pi, Gemini CLI, Cursor, GitHub Copilot CLI, and Droid in one archive, fully packaged. Move sessions from one harness to another: start a task in Claude Code, continue it in Codex or OpenCode, and keep the full timeline. Export Claude Code sessions, back up Codex sessions, search OpenCode sessions — cross-harness session portability is the point. You can even continue a session on cloud and pick it up from any machine.
Share sessions. Share agents.
Sessions are multiplayer on Supafork. sf session share sends a teammate an email invite or mints a public link, and access can be revoked at any time. Your team sees the full session — 47 prompts, 12 tool calls, the complete timeline — and picks up exactly where the session left off. Share agent setups, skills, and prompts the same way, so the agent that worked for one engineer works for the whole team. Team collaboration for AI agents, without screenshots of terminal scrollback.
Search everything your agents ever did.
sf session search runs full-text search across every session in every harness: the prompt you half-remember, the tool call that broke, the reasoning behind a change. Ask “why retry logic” and get the matching sessions back with harness and ID, ready to open in full.
Harnesses, detected and versioned.
A harness is the CLI or IDE your coding agent runs in. Supafork auto-detects the harnesses installed on your machine, tracks their installed and latest published versions via npm, and imports sessions from each harness’s native store. sf harness prints the live table. Supported harnesses today: OpenCode, Codex, Claude Code, DeepSeek, Pi, Gemini CLI, Cursor, GitHub Copilot CLI, and Droid, with more on the way.
Install Supafork.
Install the Supafork CLI in one step on Linux and macOS: curl -fsSL https://beta.supafork.com/install | sh. Prefer a package manager? npm install -g supafork@beta, or bun add -g --trust supafork@beta. Supafork is published on the npm registry as the supafork package, on GitHub at github.com/supafork, and via the Homebrew tap supafork/homebrew-supafork. Or just ask your agent to set it up — the CLI is agent-installable by design.
Supafork vs Archil, Mesa, and the agent-filesystem space.
Looking for an Archil alternative or a Mesa alternative? Archil ships a cloud filesystem for AI training data and model weights. Mesa ships a versioned filesystem for AI agents on top of S3. Supafork goes one layer up: we are the AI Agent Native Version Control system, the Git for AI agents, with a filesystem-grade storage layer underneath. Archil and Mesa are filesystems with versioning bolted on. Supafork is version control first, agent-native by design, and Git-compatible at the surface, so the agents already in your stack can speak to it without learning anything new.
Use cases.
- Coding agents that open hundreds of branches per hour.
- Autonomous SWE agents that need rollback and provenance.
- Parallel agent swarms that need cheap forks.
- Agent control planes that need an environment per task.
- Research workflows that need an S3-backed filesystem with branches.
- Anywhere Git is the bottleneck on agent throughput.
- Teams that need one archive of every agent session across every harness.
- Engineers moving a session from Claude Code to Codex to OpenCode without losing the timeline.
- Sharing an agent session with a teammate instead of screensharing a terminal.
- Auditing what an agent did last week: prompts, tool calls, and outcomes.
